This notice explains what personal information Jefes Ramen collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and plain. If anything is unclear, email jefesramen@gmail.com.
Who we are
Jefes Ramen CIC is a community interest company based in Stockport. We run Buy 1 Give 1 ramen nights in pubs: every bowl you buy funds a matching meal for someone experiencing homelessness. We are the “controller” of the information described here, which means we decide how it is used.

What we collect and why
| When | What | Why, and our legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| You sign up for event alerts or “Get notified” for a venue | Your email address and the area or venue you chose | To email you when a ramen night is confirmed in that area. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. |
| You use the “Join us” form (volunteer, host, partner, donor) | Your name, email, what you want to do, and any message | To reply to you and talk about working together. Basis: our legitimate interests in answering people who contact us, and taking steps you asked for. |
| You sign up to volunteer or host through our portal | The details you give us on that form, such as contact details and availability | To arrange shifts or nights and contact you about them, including in an emergency on the night. Basis: legitimate interests and taking steps you asked for. |
| You email, phone or message us | Whatever you send us | To reply. Basis: legitimate interests. |
| You visit the website | Pages viewed, rough location (city level), device and browser, and which buttons you clicked (for example ticket links) | To understand which pages help people find a night. We use Google Analytics. See “Cookies and analytics” below. |
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share your email with pubs, charities or brands for their own marketing.
Tickets and donations
Tickets are sold through Eventbrite and donations go through Crowdfunder. They handle your payment details under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details. Eventbrite shares your name and email with us as the organiser so we can run the night.
Who helps us store it
We use a small number of services to run the site and store sign-ups. They only process your data on our instructions:
- Supabase: our database for event alert and portal sign-ups.
- Netlify: hosts this website and receives the “Join us” form.
- Google: Gmail, which we use to reply to you, and Google Analytics.
Some of these companies may store data outside the UK, for example in the EU or US. Where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Event alerts: until you unsubscribe, or 24 months after you sign up if we haven’t run a night in your area by then.
- Join us and contact messages: up to 24 months after our last conversation, unless you become a volunteer, host or partner.
- Volunteer and host records: while you’re active with us, then up to 24 months.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it;
- stop emailing you or stop using it for a particular purpose;
- send it to you or someone else in a common format.
To unsubscribe from event alerts, reply “stop” to any email from us or email jefesramen@gmail.com. For anything else, email us and we’ll reply within one month. It’s free.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and buttons people use. It sets cookies in your browser. It doesn’t tell us who you are. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. We also remember which partner link brought you to the site, so we can credit creators who send visitors our way.
Children
Our sign-up forms are for adults. Please don’t sign up if you’re under 16.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve used your data, please tell us first at jefesramen@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
