Things to Do in Southampton on a Tuesday: Ramen at Platform Tavern, 17 Nov

A big bowl of Jefes Ramen held up against a yellow wall

Tuesday is the night nobody plans for. Monday you're recovering. Wednesday you're halfway. Tuesday just sort of happens.

I'd like to change that for one Tuesday in Southampton.

I'm Jerelle, Jefe to most people, and I run Jefes Ramen, a community interest company from Stockport. On Tuesday 17 November we're bringing big bowls of ramen to Platform Tavern on Town Quay. Every bowl sold is Buy 1 Give 1: it funds a matching meal for someone experiencing homelessness. If you've been typing things to do in Southampton on a Tuesday into your phone, this is my answer.

A Tuesday night on Town Quay

I'll be straight with you. I'm not from Southampton, and I'm not going to pretend I know your city better than you do. You don't need me to tell you where to drink or which end of town is best.

What I can tell you is what a Tuesday means to a pub. It's often the quietest night of the week. The regulars are in, the room has space, and the landlord is looking at the door wondering who's coming through it. That's exactly the kind of night we like to cook on.

I've worn a few hats before this. I played basketball professionally in London, Leicester and Manchester. I ran a barbershop, Jefes Barbers, and lost it because I couldn't keep up with it. I've got a coffee house on Shaw Heath in Stockport now. Every one of those taught me that people will come out on an ordinary night if there's a real reason to. A good bowl and a good reason. That's the whole pitch.

Platform Tavern, Town Quay SO14 2NY, Tue 17 Nov

Here's what's confirmed:

  • Venue: Platform Tavern, Town Quay, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 2NY
  • Date: Tuesday 17 November 2026
  • Time: 6–10pm
  • Presale closes: Tuesday 10 November
  • Tickets: Book the Southampton night on Eventbrite.

One thing worth saying clearly: it's Tuesday the 17th, not the 19th. If you've seen another date floating about, go with the 17th.

If you're searching for a Town Quay Southampton pub with something different on that night, that's us. Platform Tavern said yes to a Tuesday, and I respect that. A venue backing a quiet night is how every one of these starts.

What to expect from the night

Southampton ramen, cooked properly, in a pub. That's the short version.

We do big bowls. Proper portions, rich broth, the kind of thing you want on a November evening when it's dark by teatime. You can see the bowls we cook on our menu page: things like Tokyo Chick, Miso Shroom and Big Baloo. I'll confirm the exact line-up for Southampton closer to the night, so treat the menu page as a taste of what we do rather than a promise for the 17th.

What you won't get is a charity lecture. No speeches halfway through your noodles. No guilt trip. You come in, you order, you eat, you have a drink at the bar, and the giving part is already built into the bowl you bought.

Bring a mate. Bring the group chat. Tuesday is better with company.

The Buy 1 Give 1 model

This is the bit that matters most to me.

I've been on the other side of hunger. I know what it is to need a hot meal and not have one coming. That's why Jefes Ramen exists, and it's why the model is as simple as I could make it:

  1. You buy a bowl.
  2. That bowl funds a matching meal for someone experiencing homelessness.
  3. That's it. One for you, one given.

It isn't a slice of profits if the month goes well. It's tied to the bowl in front of you.

Southampton is a new city for us, so I'm keeping the claims small and honest. This will be our first night here. I'm not going to tell you about results in Southampton that haven't happened yet, and I'm not naming a local charity partner until one is confirmed. When that's agreed, it goes on the city page first.

The night is also part of 382k Reasons, our Crowdfunder. If you can't make a Tuesday in Southampton, you can still back the work before it closes on 27 October: 382k Reasons on Crowdfunder. No pressure. Coming to eat is the main thing.

Booking

Tuesday 17 November, 6–10pm, Platform Tavern, Town Quay, SO14 2NY. Book your bowl here: Jefes Ramen Southampton tickets on Eventbrite

A couple of other ways in:

  • Want to help on the night? We need people who'll turn up and graft. Join the crew.
  • Run a pub or venue with a quiet night of your own? Your first two nights are a free trial, then it's £48 a night, and you keep 100% of the bar. Have a look at Jefes Ramen for pubs.
  • Want to see what we're up to before then? We're on Instagram at @jefe.mcr.

So, things to do in Southampton on a Tuesday? Come and have a bowl with us. It's a better Tuesday than most, and every bowl funds a matching meal.

See you on the quay.
